The State of Georgia requires fire departments to have 120 hours of training per year. Lamar County Fire & Rescue, on an average, logs over 240 hours a year.
Lamar County Fire & Rescue is cross trained in fire and medical. All active firefighers in Lamar County are encouraged to have at minimun the basic level of medical training before they are allowed to respond to emergency calls in Lamar County.
Lamar County has three sets of extrication equipment to assist firefighters in removing patients from wrecks safely and properly.
